Glassdoor Ohio
Glassdoor, one of the world’s largest job and recruiting sites, needed to renovate their 13,000 SF regional office located outside of Uniontown, Ohio. The existing space, intended for Human Resources, Content, and Customer Service employees, was gray and uninviting, without any expression of Glassdoor’s charm or personality.
The goal was simple: integrate a mix of artwork to activate the workplace, in a smart and cost-effective manner. Given the indoor nature of most “desk jobs,” it was a high priority to connect employees to nature by integrating natural materials and biophilia. Glassdoor wanted to create an inviting, engaging, and fun environment to work, while also expressing the organization’s evolving global brand: human, empowering, authentic, and trusted.
This renovation effort built upon the successful design of their Chicago office, recently completed in the burgeoning West Loop neighborhood. But naturally, for this office, it was important to reflect the local culture, making it unique to Ohio.
The finished space integrated recycled wood and living artwork as a feature wall in the reception area.

The training room features a custom interactive employee shout out wall, where pegs can be moved around, and cards are provided for staff to give positive feedback to each other. And in two major nods to the local culture, the training room mural is an abstracted “corn maze”, inspired by the many fields of Ohio, and more than 2,000+ buckeye nuts (Ohio’s state tree) create a 3-dimensional map art piece. Accent paint helps break down large white walls, replacing the formerly dull, gray walls.
With Glassdoor’s brand voice and messaging expressed in the reception and public areas, the conference rooms are reflective of the local culture. Room name and general themes were all selected by employees. Further, conference rooms feature custom wall graphics, artwork, installations inspired by employees’ favorite places--including the Football Hall of Fame featuring a magnetic interactive football field. And illustrations of cows play on a local favorite farm known as “Grandpa’s Cheesebarn.”
